Graphing & Data Comparison
AVI file creator allows the user to create computer animation of the section under the applied loading while simultaneously showing a graph of the response.
This feature allows the user to export the results for use in Power Point or on the Internet.
Any of the loading types can be made to an avi file. section drawing capabilities. The zoom in and zoom out feature no longer cuts fibers from the edges of the screen.
Further, the user defined drawing boundary is shown when the user zooms out far enough.
Option to vary the post peak bilinearization of the idealized moment curvature response. In the older versions of XTRACT and UCFyber, the bilinearization was a best fit with both the area under the moment curvature relation and the ultimate point in the moment curvature response history.
Now, the user also has the option to choose the post peak slope of the bilinearization, whether it be zero (as per CalTrans recommendation) or a user defined post peak slope.
Ability to generate the plastic rotation capacity based on a code assumed plastic hinge length. The user picks the plastic hinge length based on a particular code and type, enters the critical parameters, and the calculated result is printed in the analysis report.
Equation fit to the Axial Force – Moment Interaction diagram . In this analysis, the user can fit a cubic polynomial to the data.
The equation parameters are printed along with the graph of the equation plotted against the actual detailed calculation of the points.
The equation can be then used on other structural analysis programs that accept such input.
BACKGROUND:
FORMERLY KNOWN AS UCFYBER, XTRACT FEATURES a fully interactive program for the analysis of structural cross sections.
Using cutting edge nonlinear analysis algorithms, XTRACT can generate Moment Curvatures, Axial Force-Moment Interactions, and Moment-Moment Interactions for Unconfined and Confined Concrete, Steel, Prestressed, and Composite structural elements.
It can handle the input and analysis of any arbitrary cross section (even with holes) made up of any material input from the available nonlinear material models.
XTRACThas been used on many high profile projects for both buildings andbridges ranging from analysis of the existing columns for the Salt LakeCity, City Hall seismic upgrade project to analysis of the suspensionbridge columns on the Carquinez Strait bridge in the San Francisco bayarea. In addition, XTRACT has also been used in the design of thetemporary bypass structure for the new San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridgeas well as in numerous state transportation agencies across the countryand abroad in other countries.
GENERAL FEATURES:
QUICK ANALYSIS OF STANDARD SECTIONS from the easy-to-use interactive template library makes section analysis very fast. Within minutes, the user can define a section and perform a nonlinear section analysis.
The template sections include Circular and Rectangular Columns, Rectangular Beams, Beams with Slabs, Rectangular Walls with Boundary Zones, and Encased Composite Circular Sections.
ANALYSIS OF ARBITRARY SECTIONS is where the the power of XTRACT really shines thanks to its point and click environment. Any section that can be drawn on the computer can be discretized using the automatic mesh generation capabilities of XTRACT.
XTRACT analysis options provide a realistic estimation of the structural nonlinear properties and critical engineering design parameters of the arbitrary structural section.
XTRACT offers FIVE NONLINEAR MATERIAL MODELS that are used commonly in high performance engineering:
Mander Models for Unconfined and Confined Concrete, Bilinear Steel, Bilinear Steel with Parabolic Strain Hardening, Menegotto Pinto.
In addition to these, XTRACT provides the versatility to model any other material through the User Defined material model.
The User Defined material model can be used to accurately model Kevlar, Carbon Fiber Wrap, Masonry, High Strength Concrete, etc.
Created User Defined materials are easily ported to all XTRACT users in the design office producing an interoffice standard library of material models.
SECTION ANALYSIS in XTRACT is quick and easy. XTRACT can analyze any number of sections subjected to any number of section analyses.
Moment Curvatures at various performance levels, Axial Force-Moment Interactions at user defined target strains, and Moment-Moment Interactions under applied axial loads can all be done easily within a production framework.
INTERFACE AND DATA ORGANIZATION for all sections, analyses, materials, graphics and data are available using a tree view Project Manager for easy access, manipulation, and extraction.
This powerful tool for organization makes the large quantities of XTRACT data output easily manageable.
READY REPORT GENERATION is provided for Material, Section, and Analysis output. The full color professional quality reports capture critical input and engineering results from each analysis.
Graphing and Data Comparison In XTRACT, the user can add as many graphs at a time as needed. The graphs shown above depict the moment curvature relation about the X-Axis for a confined heavily reinforce concrete column with Tension, No Axial Load, and Compression. The graphs can be printed with a header similar to the analysis report and in any units.
As the mouse passes over each data point on the graph, all data in the section for that loading are shown in the table. The material data shown is the maximum throughout the section at that load point.
XTRACT is a Windows based program that runs under Windows 2000, XP and Vista, and has the following hardware requirements.
- PC with Pentium II or greater
- 256MB RAM
- 5MB of free hard drive space needed for XTRACT
