1978年10月至1982年9月,中国天津大学土建系结构工程(工业与民用建筑)专业,获工学士学位。
1982年10月至1983年9月,出国预备研究生,大连外国语学院完成日语培训。
1983年10月至1989年3月,日本九州大学工学部建筑工学科,1986年3月获工学硕士学位,1989年3月获工学博士学位。1989年3月获日本九州大学工学博士学位。
1989年3月至1990年3月,在日本东京青木建设株式会社研究所工作。
1990年3月至1992年3月,在美国加州大学圣迭哥校从事博士后研究工作。
1992年3月至1994年5月,美国加州大学圣迭哥校,研究员(Research Scientist)并兼任讲师。
1994年6月获美国职业注册土木工程师执照, 同时被评为博士生导师。
1994年6月起,受聘于美国南加州大学土木系,历任助理教授 (Assistant Professor)、副教授(Associate Professor)并获终身教职。担任系试验室主任和工程与抗震研究中心主任。
2001年10月被聘为长江学者特聘教授,从事围绕基于性能的抗震设计、高性能新材料的结构应用等综合研究。
现任美国土木工程学会(ASCE)结构工程杂志(Journal of Structural Engineering)副主编;国际组合结构协会(ASCCS)理事;美国土木工程学会(ASCE)及美国混凝土协会(ACI)联合委员会441(混凝土柱)、335(组合结构)委员;建筑钢结构进展杂志特约编辑;美国土木工程学会(ASCE)会员;美国混凝土协会(ACI)会员。曾任美国大学地震工程研究协会(CUREE)前任理事,参与了NEES 协调组织的启动;中国青年科技工作者协会建筑与公路工程建设技术专业委员会副主任委员。

还真是,仔细看了,翻译有问题。把Associate Professor翻译成了“终身教授”。

尽管如此,他兼任了很多工程协会的职务,如理事,国外很看中这个,尽管只是交会费的学术机构,是身价的标码!

另外,喜欢写文章......发表了不少作品......
